Membership is open, free at entry, and built around participation rather than paperwork.
Who can join
- Membership is open to all bona fide students of the Copperbelt University. — Article 7(a).
- Membership becomes effective upon payment of the membership fee agreed by the Executive, payable each academic year. — Article 7(b).
- Members must complete a membership form upon payment of the subscription fee. — Article 7(c).
- All Executive Members must subscribe to the Motherboard (mandatory). — Article 7(d).

Four steps to membership
Pay
Pay the annual membership subscription fee set by the Executive for the academic year.
Register
Complete the chapter membership form and be entered into the register of members.
Orientation
Attend chapter orientation and receive the Constitution and member handbook.
Engage
Join a directorate or programme track and take part in the General Assembly.
Membership categories
Ordinary Member
Bona fide, fully paid-up Copperbelt University students.
Annual subscription set by the Executive
Executive Member
The nine constitutional office bearers, who must also subscribe to the Motherboard.
Committee Member
Two members appointed with respect to gender by the Directors of Programs, Innovation and Communication.
Electoral Commissioner
Duly subscribed members with no disciplinary case, appointed to the Electoral Commission. — Article 24.
General Assembly Member
The Executive, all registered members and any other member the Executive deems fit. — Article 28.
Expectations & code of conduct
What we expect of members
- Attend at least three chapter activities per semester.
- Contribute to at least one community outreach activity per academic year.
- Represent the chapter and the university professionally at all times.
- Respond to chapter communication and honour commitments made.
Code of conduct
- Act with honesty and integrity in all chapter dealings.
- Respect every member regardless of faculty, background, gender or belief.
- No harassment, discrimination or abuse of any kind — zero tolerance.
- No use of the chapter name for personal or political gain.
- Safeguard the wellbeing of learners and community members during outreach.
- Handle chapter funds and property with full accountability.

Any registered Copperbelt University student in any faculty or year of study. Alumni may join as associate members, and staff as advisory members.
MembershipIs there a membership fee?
Core membership is free. Some intensive programmes may carry a small materials contribution, which is always announced in advance.
EventsDo I need to be a member to attend events?
Most events are open to all CBU students. Members get priority registration and reserved places on capped programmes.
ProgrammesCan I join more than one programme?
Yes. Members commonly combine a leadership track with an enterprise or digital skills programme.
LeadershipHow do I become part of the executive committee?
Executive positions are filled through chapter elections held annually, open to members in good standing.
VolunteeringHow do I volunteer?
Register through the volunteer form and the Director of Community Outreach will place you on a deployment team.
CertificatesDo I get a certificate?
Yes. Students who complete a full programme track receive a certificate recognised across THE FORGE network.
